Polymer Expert (Principal Engineer), Additive Technology.
Permanent role usually based in Carrigtwohill, Cork. Currently work remote
Role Summary :
Responsible for providing technical oversight and leadership during the development of new technologies and materials for additive manufacture of polymers.
This is diverse and exciting role, including guiding teams in the following areas :
Role includes the following :
Optimising production parameters for additive manufacture of polymers
Developing test methods for process and material characterisation, and interpreting results.
Understanding the impact of sterilisation, aging and environmental conditions on polymer products
Advising on strategy with regard to new materials and technologies to best meet customer needs
Providing guidance on assembly and post processing for polymers, such as adhesion, joining and coating.
Increasing the understanding of polymer science and engineering within the additive team
Identifying and implementing best practices, and driving innovation within the polymers space
Responsibility for maintaining high engineering standards across the polymer business
Be a champion for positive engineering approach and innovation to meet business intent
Developing strategy to grow polymer expertise organically within the business
Identifying key talent and developing key development plans to meet business need
Complex problem solving and troubleshooting within New Technology Development, New Product Introduction, Operations, as well as in collaboration with suppliers
Growing a network of collaborative relationships within academia, industry and Stryker.
Key influencer within the business
Work is performed without appreciable direction and may be self-initiated. Exercises considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of the assignment.
Will function in a technical leadership role on major programs.
Ensure adherence to GMP and safety procedures.
Review and approval of validation documentation.
All other duties as assigned.
What we would like you to have :
PhD with 5 or more years of experience or local equivalent may also be desirable.
Broad based business experience in high performance multi-national enterprise, at least 3 years of which has been spent in operations and / or technical leadership level in a highly regulated industry.
Excellent Interpersonal Skills able to express ideas and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Be open minded with the ability to recognise good ideas.
Strong capability to network and influence at all organisation levels. Ability to build networks externally and leverage appropriately.
Both a logical and strategic thinker with the ability to identify and seize opportunities to advance the Stryker mandate.
Demonstrated project management and engineering expertise associated with new product introduction (NPI) in a regulated environment.
Strong analytical ability with a high aptitude for understanding systems, gathering data and performing research.
Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and have the ability to understand geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing.
Detailed understanding of the validation and verification process and its application relating to new products.
Green or Black Belt 6 Sigma qualifications an advantage.
High level of PC Skills required.
Excellent attention to detail.
