The Team

The EMEAR region is made up of 6 theatres covering 121 countries across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia (EMEAR). The role is the Comms Lead of the Germany Theatre .

The Cisco EMEAR Communications Team is a world-class team of communicators. We connect and engage with media, analysts, and employees.

We are in tune with everything that’s happening around us. We build connections and enable relevant conversations that influence measurable opinions and behaviours.

You will work closely with the business leaders of Germany, as well as marketing, communications and other support functions and global communications teams to craft and drive outcome-based communications programs and will be accountable for measurable results.

Role and Responsibilities

You will be overseeing all comms activities, in Germany, in particular media relations, employee communications, and executive communications.

You will manage a comms manager who is responsible for employee and executive comms on a day-to-day basis. You will be creating and delivering integrated media programmes for key influencers, working in partnership with all communications functions and stakeholders, including the country management teams.

Key influencers will primarily include the media as well as considering other audiences such as social media influencers, government representatives, subject matter experts, and others.

The success of this job requires the ability to balance a number of priorities in order to ensure the success of communications as part of the EMEAR communications team.

It requires the ability to prioritise and focus on the areas where communications can have the biggest impact and demonstrate tangible results around influencing our audience's perceptions, attitudes andbehaviours.

Some of your main responsibilities will be :

Translating business goals into communications goals, understanding audience perceptions, and crafting and driving integrated communications programmes in support of Cisco’s global and regional business objectives.

  • Building executive speaker messaging and platforms that positions the company and the speaker as true thought leaders within a fast evolving and competitive market, including a country narrative by engaging with stakeholders from different business entities (including sales and development)
  • Writing or oversee writing of a variety of engaging content for external and internal audiences (video scripts, press releases, presentations, social media, messages, briefing documents, bylined articles)
  • Working directly with journalists and other key influencers in Germany primarily, based on excellent traditional media expertise and relationship within technology, national and business publications as well as on key social / online influencers will be required
  • Track and report on communications outcome metrics and use the data to continually improve ongoing communications campaigns
  • Provide communications counsel to relevant internal stakeholders
  • Working as part of a regional and global team, building and maintaining strong working relationships with the EMEAR Comms Team, across the business and in HQ to develop insight into business goals and key activities in order to convert these into communications campaigns
  • Be an active part of the EMEAR Comms Leadership team
  • Leading and developing the German PR agency
  • Project & budget management with the ability to meet milestones
  • Your key skills and experience :

  • Eight or more years of external communications experience, including Public Relations and Social Media
  • Working in a global company across various disciplines
  • Excellent editorial and storytelling skills
  • Data-driven communications strategy and planning
  • A track record of translating business goals into communications goals, understanding audience perceptions, and crafting integrated communications campaigns in support of the company and region business objectives.
  • Good understanding of the tech sector especially in the B2B area
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to meet milestones, and balance concurrent projects
  • Senior level experience in giving counsel to executives; with the gravitas and credibility to influence senior management
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with a minimum of guidance
  • A deep understanding of how communications and marketing should work together
  • You can socialize communications campaigns with multiple communications and business stakeholders to advance message consistency and impact
