Dendritic cells are versatile controllers of immunity with crucial roles in innate and adaptive immunity. For reasons that remain poorly understood, in neonates these cells are qualitatively distinct from adults.

The project aims to dissect the ability of early life DC to induce protective immune responses in settings of vaccination.

The project will use in vivo mouse models to deplete and genetically modify dendritic cells. Coupled to ex vivo functional analyses of dendritic cells and single cell technologies (such as single cell RNASeq, multiparameter flow cytometry) we aim to decipher the functional heterogeneity of dendritic cells in early life.

The position is available in the group of Barbara Schraml at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich, Gemany.

  • A creative team player wanting to take an active role in a young, dynamic and international research team
  • Active involvement in teaching as part of the core curriculum of the LMU
  • Proficiency in German and English is required
  • Expertise in flow cytometry, gene expression profiling and / or working with in vivo models
  • You should hold a doctoral degree in Immunology, Cell Biology or Physiology or the like
