Head of Sales, Germany

our client has bold ambitions in Germany over the next 5 years. In order to achieve this the company will have to over proportionally grow our distribution in Germany and win in grocery.

Our client is looking for a master sales hunter to develop and execute a clear hub sales strategy to deliver profitable double digit growth across their core categories and channels.

You’ll be leading the sales hunter team.

What will you do?

  • Bring your personality to the team. Throw yourself into office life and build great relationships with the whole (DACH) team.

  • Build, inspire, nurture and develop a first class sales team; infect others with your passion and enthusiasm, create and implement development plans with each sales hunter to grow the skill base and ensure regular feedback sessions.
  • Partner up with the other members of the DACH People Leadership Team to set an inspiring DACH vision, set an example on the values, facilitate decision making and prioritization and recruit, retain and develop an amazing DACH team.
  • Develop and manage the execution of sales plans to deliver budgeted sales, volume, profit and ROI, take full responsibility for trade spend / sales team targets monitor / understand sales results vs.
  • plan & drive action / urgency to resolve. Review ROI for all key activities & understand customer / channel P&Ls to enable trade-off decisions.

  • Leverage regional plans / insights & local market / customer / consumer insights to develop, agree & activate customer JBPs / sector plans and lead in-
  • store sales excellence / theatre : translate & hook’ an overall strategy for the trade approach and implement at account level with our sales hunters to drive category growth & deliver >

    fair share distribution & in-store theatre (promo, media, etc.)

  • Translate the EU / German category vision / strategy into create transformational retail relationships to drive influence on customers’ decisions in Germany;
  • implement / land the cleaner clean’ category vision story, prioritising the development & growth of the category within a focused group of relationship retail customers (acting as key account contact in key retailer relationship partners).

  • Produce accurate annual / monthly / weekly sales & demand forecast as key input into S&OP process & monitor / drive urgency to meet customers’ needs on ops basics (order entry, customer service, fcst, delivery)
  • Drive team to provide data driven, accurate / timely inputs to demand planning to enable S&OP process & accurate forecasts and to deliver premium level of customer service / sales support.
  • Partner with Brand Experience / POD Managers to activate a product / BTL brand strategy and win in store’ within accounts to complement customer strategy.
  • Add a sprinkle of magic to create differentiated brand theatre’ with retailers in-store (space, location, treatment) and out of store (via retailer marketing activities).

  • Help steer our DACH business as part of the DACH leadership team (PLT)
  • What you’ll bring :

    This is not a typical sales job in a typical FMCG company; as well as the basics, you will need to possess a unique blend of skills.

    The role calls for an entrepreneurial, creative, passionate, self-starting, flexible and results-driven commercial superstar with a passion for selling, an eye for the numbers detail, the focus to drive the profitable growth of their key accounts and develop a sales hunter team to become the best soap selling squad in Germany.

  • A strong affinity with PAD’s values, and the passion to bring our unique culture to life every day
  • Great people leadership skills to engage, motivate and develop your team of 4 Sales Hunters (increase capacity within next years)
  • An ability to roll up your sleeves, solve problems, and make things happen
  • General leadership skills to drive focus / prioritization within sales team
  • Local commercial leadership skills to translate our EU strategies into Hub GTM plans & excel at execution
  • Ability to deliver results by presenting brand & category stories which sell with data’ & convince with passion’ to execute EU category strategies & trade marketing in store via substance & style (woo), achieving partnerships with key customers
  • Local commercial skills & customer expertise to build, manage & execute budgets and sales strategy (pricing, promos, channel strategies, choices).
  • Financial planning skills to create / monitor / deliver 1 year sales budget, sales / demand forecast
  • Great knowledge of supplier / retailer operational requirements / systems / constraints
  • Ability to partner with Brand Experience and POD teams to win in store via booming NPD launches & leveraging retailer media to grow the brands and maximize ROI.
  • What our client are looking for :

  • You’ll have learnt your trade through significant experience working in a FMCG Sales environment
  • You will have a strong challenger’ mentality, developed through working on challenger / small innovative brands.
  • You’ll have the smarts’ & the flexibility to apply them to real world retailer negotiations and in implementing winning strategies.
  • You’ll have experience leading and coaching a sales team.
  • You will have strong experience and knowledge of the key retailers in Germany
