Job Introduction

The Manager leads the engineering team(s) through various product development cycles delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions to internal and external customers.

The Manager has responsibility for both people management (development, coaching) and project leadership for those projects in his / her domain.

Major Responsibilities

  • As appropriate to specific role, acts as primary customer and internal interface for all escalated technical issues.
  • Tracks and reports on engineering targets (BOM cost, quality, customer and / or internal delivery timing, performance, project and department engineering budget, etc.
  • for all assigned projects.

  • Ensures that programs are properly resourced (both quality and quantity) for success, whether through assignment of direct resources, or leverage of external resources as required.
  • Provides team leadership, management support, including coaching and active engagement with direct and extended team.
  • Provides technical leadership in directing the efforts of cross functional engineering team in the development and release of all relevant engineering deliverables in compliance with the product development process and / or customer expectations.
  • Knowledge and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering. Masters degree preferred. Management / Leadership training is an asset.
  • Work Experience

  • 15 years of relevant experience in the appropriate discipline and in team management / coaching
  • Target 20+ years of relevant experience in the appropriate discipline. Delivering complex technical projects and in team management / coaching.
  • Skills and Competencies

  • Comprehensive knowledge of product development and engineering practices in the automotive field.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge in structured engineering approach
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of structured problem solving (8D)
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of configuration management, project planning, monitoring and control techniques
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of validation and verification techniques
  • Profound technical knowledge of automotive electronics products. Familiar with typical automotive OEM requirements. Can anticipate customer requirements, even if not stated in customer documentation.
  • Working knowledge of IS026262, hazard, SAE J2464, IEC, NEC, ISO 20G53, and two-level fault strategies.
  • knowledge of MS Office package (especially Excel)
  • knowledge of analysis and engineering tools such as version control / configuration management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of analysis, engineering and product lifecycle management tools
  • ALM tools (PTC Integrity)
  • Working knowledge of CAN and LIN based tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape, neoVI
  • High Level understanding of Model based development
  • Modeling tools : Mathworks based tools (Matlab, Simulink), Enterprise Architect
  • Simulation tools : Carmaker
