Minimum of three years formal training in a music related field such as instrument, voice, and / or conducting is desired.
A degree in music and / or certification by appropriate professional organizations.
Minimum of three years of experience in leading / directing choral or music groups, and able to demonstrate proficiency in the reading and interpretation of vocal and instrumental scores to include Gregorian Chant, traditional hymns and appropriate contemporary sacred music.
Must have a High School diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Certificate, or compulsory education equivalency.
Shall read / comprehend, write, and speak English fluently.
Must have MS Office skills.
Have overall musical directorship to include but not limited to recruitment of members, rehearsals, and choir direction, for the 1700 Sunday Catholic Mass
Collaborate musical selections with the Chaplain.
Lead the choir and congregation as cantor in worship and vocally lead as required by the Chaplain and train other choir members to do so.
Sing music from a religious music, ecclesiastical, or suitable type publication resource consistent with the nature of the Catholic Mass.
Provide arranged, improved, and scored music as appropriate for compatibility with the type of Mass or other functions of the Chaplainâ€™s program at which it was rendered.
Be present for rehearsals, services and special services. Special services include but are not limited to : Memorial services, Funeral services, combined services, faith specific holidays, and occasional support for special events.
Conduct one weekly rehearsal with choir members at an appropriate time to allow for maximum participation amongst its members.
Rehearsals shall be held separate from the 60 minute window prior to services and special services.
Have overall responsibility for recruitment of and keep record of volunteers.
Work well with teens and have ability to listen and develop rapport with them to unite the adult choir and teen choir members for the KMC Community.
