What you will learn and contribute to

The key responsibilities of the Patent Attorney will include, but are not limited to the following :

  • Identifying, capturing and managing IPR, with particular emphasis on invention evaluation;
  • Handling and decisions on patent applications and patents including drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications;
  • Providing advice, including infringement and validity advice, on both Nokia and third-party patents, and managing opposition proceedings when required;
  • Preparing claim charts in support of litigation and licensing activities.
  • The Patent Attorney appointment is key within the IP Department of Nokia. The person appointed will have the opportunity to achieve considerable success within this long established and well-respected organisation.

    Your skills and experience

    The successful candidate will ideally possess :

  • Masters or PhD qualification in a relevant technical field such as electrical engineering, applied physics, computer science, or IT;
  • A fundamental understanding of wireless communication infrastructure standards (4G / 5G-NR / ORAN) and respective Product Technologies (RF HW, MIMO, SoC, RAN, O&M, SON).
  • Full qualification as a US Patent Attorney or Patent Agent or European Attorney. Candidates working towards full qualification, or with significant relevant experience and the drive to become a fully-qualified patent attorney will also be considered;
  • Strong post-qualification experience, ideally within an industry setting;
  • An approachable, team-player attitude and confidence in interaction with research and development colleagues and others across the business and eternally, particularly in knowledge-sharing;
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
  • Commercial awareness and interest in Nokia’s proprietary technologies and future aims;
  • Fluency in English as the working language of the company; Finnish, French or German skills would be considered advantageous.
