Role

The role will ensure execution of best-in-class packaging / container strategy for production material. This includes the design and continuous analysis and optimization of all container types and input factors to meet the relevant KPI’s in terms of safety, cost, efficiency, quality, and the environment.

What you will be doing :

  • Steer external resources on packaging engineering and design
  • Evaluate cost per packaging based on part number level and drive most cost-effective solution based on relevant input factors
  • Align requirements of all internal and external stakeholders to plan best-in-class packaging concepts like disposable packaging, standard returnable packaging and special load carriers & align those concepts with the relevant packaging design party
  • Define initial packaging concepts, pack factors and all other relevant packaging data throughout product development phase
  • Lead packaging development process with all relevant stakeholders through packaging concept, packaging design, packaging trial and series implementation phase
  • Update and maintain all relevant packaging / container data in Plan-for-every-part (PFEP)
  • Ensure proper documentation of the aligned and signed-off packaging solutions
  • Lead technical conversations around packaging design and drive analysis for continuous improvement and problem solving from concept to serial implementation
  • Link closely with research and industry partners to analyse new ideas and approaches to achieve excellence in packaging engineering & design
  • Support creation and implementation of packaging standards and container management system
  • Support packaging manager and indirect procurement during Quotation and Nomination process for the relevant container development
  • Execute packaging development process from early concept phase till series build
  • Whilst respecting sound principles and processes, challenge the traditional automotive supply chain thinking, seek to emulate where appropriate the best practices from new players in the automotive market as well as other industries by adopting solutions where commercially viable
  • To ensure proper documentation of relevant container data and packaging development sign-off
  • Lead Continuous improvement process for packaging
  • To ensure packaging concepts meet cost, efficiency, and quality expectations
  • To align requirements and drive packaging concepts and design process for all required production parts and all packaging types (e.
  • g. disposable, returnable, special load carriers)
