THE ROLE & THE TEAM

As the Head of Direct Marketing you will be in charge of defining direct communication to engage and convert , which is derived from our Zalando brand personality, company strategic priorities, and customer needs.

You will partner with colleagues of the Marketing and Markets Organization as well as the Technical Platform teams to truly understand customer needs, to define our strategic and commercial communication targets, and to communicate compelling stories that engage customers and bring across our brand values.

You will be part of the Customer Inbox team who inspires, informs, and engages consumers and enables Zalando teams to reach out via personalized direct communication (email and push).

This team owns and develops the technical product for message sending further and is closely collaborating with the Direct Marketing Team as a key commercial stakeholder.

WHY YOU SHOULD BE INTERESTED

  • Leading a large team of Direct Marketing Managers (20+ HC, 2 Teamleads)
  • Guiding the team with a comprehensive Direct Marketing strategy and roadmap to deliver on the Fashion Store strategy and Operational Plan
  • Identifying direct communication opportunities to create meaningful moments for consumers along their fashion journey
  • Partnering with Country Manager, Proposition Owner and Marketing / Sales teams on translating strategic objectives into communication strategies Partnering with Design, Content Creator, Copywriter, Marketing, and other teams to shape creative concepts
  • Leverage marketing automation to scale impact of use cases across markets
  • Pitch your own initiatives / projects based on expected business impact to get buy-in from enabling and executing teams
  • Help us identify and develop capabilities of our internal tooling collaborating with Product Management and Engineering
  • Responsible for defining, setting up and driving channel execution in email and push across all relevant countries, adapting a global plan to local needs
  • Responsible to provide professional input to complex assignments / projects and providing direction to more junior members of the organization
  • WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • 7+ years of professional experience in an online, retail, ecommerce environment
  • Experienced in leading bigger, diverse and complex teams in an agile environment - ready to convince stakeholders and to take juniors along
  • Provide thought leadership within own Marketing discipline but works on broader projects, which require understanding of wider business
  • Deep knowledge in different marketing channels (i.e. email, push, onsite) and techniques, skills, procedures to drive impact
  • Works autonomously, only requiring expert level technical support from others
  • Uses in-depth professional knowledge and acumen to develop models & procedures, and monitor trends, within own discipline area
  • Takes end-to-end responsibility for all processes and the results connected
