For our Recombinant Product Development department we are looking for a Scientist (f / m) (full-time / permanent) Position Purpose The incumbent will develop and qualify robust, fit-
for-purpose analytical mass spectrometry applications / methods following QbD principles (LC-MS, LC-MS / MS) to support the development of recombinant protein product candidates and other biopharmaceuticals.
In addition, the scientist will perform sample preparation, data analysis and reporting for routine MS workflows in support of process development activities.
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities Develop and qualify robust, fit-for-purpose analytical mass spectrometry methods and optimize existing LC-
MS and LC-MS / MS methods to support development activities of Recombinant Product Development. Independently plan and execute analytical studies / routine MS-
analyses to support process development activities, product comparison and physico-chemical characterization activities (e.
g. Comparability Studies, Forced Degradation Studies) applying scientific best practices and accurate documentation. When required perform routine analysis of samples using assays such as (but not limited to) SDS-
PAGE, Western Blots, HPLC based assays (e.g. SE-HPLC, RP-HPLC, AIX-HPLC), glycoprofiling. Prepare scientific reports outlining assay development and qualification studies or other analytical studies and present analytical data to key stakeholders.
Support the maintenance of laboratory infrastructure and analytical equipment. Liaise with instrument engineers and / or external service providers for maintenance of equipment.
Participate in the selection of equipment for purchase, write user requirements and prepare purchase orders. Qualifications / experience Academic scientific qualification, e.
g. Master of Science (or Bachelor of Science with corresponding experience) or higher (e.g. PhD degree) in Biochemistry, Biochem.
Engineering or a corresponding area of Chemistry or Biology At least 3-5 years of significant laboratory hands-on expertise in mass spectrometry (LC-
MS, LC-MS / MS, very good knowledge of QqTOF, QqQ, QTRAP and / or Orbitrap instruments) for characterization of biologicals (physico-
chemical characterization, analysis of post-translational modifications and elucidation of degradation pathways of protein-
based pharmaceuticals). Experience in general protein chemistry / biochemistry techniques (e.g. SDS-PAGE, HPLC, N-terminal sequencing, glycoprofiling).
Experience in presentation of scientific data in written and / or verbal form in fluent English including scientific report writing skills.
