    The Shopping team in Munich is part of the Commerce area, and is building solutions that help brands of all sizes connect Google users with products they'll love.

    As Staff Software Engineer, your vision will contribute to the Munich teams plans to create a balanced Shopping ecosystem where brands can grow.

    In this role, you will help us identify, onboard, and engage with emerging direct-to-consumer merchants and brands and make them successful on Google.

    Responsibilities

  • Work closely with software engineers, product managers, user experience / user experience researcher, and other engineering teams to improve Google products.
  • Communicate and negotiate across teams to get buy-in and alignment towards a shared vision.
  • Understand the merchant / brand ecosystem and apply that understanding to guide innovation and product development.
  • Apply technical judgement and identify return-on-investment opportunities.
  • Minimum qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in technical leadership, leading project teams, and setting technical direction.
  • Experience in architecting and developing distributed systems design.
  • Preferred qualifications :

  • Experience in driving technical projects and providing leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in providing technical leadership to an engineering team, e.g. setting goals and priorities, architecture design, task planning, and code reviews.
  • Experience in working with other engineering teams internally and externally, and across geographies.
