About the Role : We are looking for a German-qualified attorney (f / m / d) with significant environmental law experience to join our global legal team.
In this challenging role you will be primarily responsible for providing legal advice and counsel on matters of German and European law, supporting a broad variety of Gore'
s Enterprise and Divisional groups.
This role offers the opportunity to work from a remote office or one of our facilities in Europe.
Strong collaboration with global, cross-divisional and cross-disciplinary teams, such as Fluoromaterials Stewardship Team, Global Product and Chemical Stewardship Team, Global Environmental Health and Safety Team, Enterprise and Divisional Sustainability Teams, and our Government Affairs Associates
Supporting the development of sustainability, stewardship, regulatory and risk mitigation strategies for both, our manufacturing operations in Germany as well as global businesses
Providing legal advice to internal clients, aligned with business objectives, primarily under the law of Germany and other European jurisdictions
Required Qualifications :
Admitted to practice law in Germany or completed law degree (2. Juristisches Staatsexamen)
Minimum 3 years, ideally 5 or more years public law experience
Demonstrated knowledge of German and EU environmental law, including but not limited to REACH, European and Federal Waste, Water and Industry Emissions Directives (, WHG)
Familiarity with environmental treaties, , Stockholm Convention on POPs, and Montreal Protocol
Demonstrated experiences in regulatory advocacy or negotiation with governmental bodies, such as the European Commission, ECHA, German Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt), Federal Ministry for the Environment, Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU)
Demonstrated ability to apply legal knowledge and judgment to business clients
Strong advocacy and influencing skills, including the ability to help bring people with diverse positions to a common view
Ability to navigate in a dynamic, cross-functional, multi-cultural and multi-national environment with both local and remote teams with quickly changing priorities and multiple tasks
Excellent communication skills with fluency in German and English
Ability to travel (up to 25%) primarily in Europe; global travel may be required occasionally
Desired Qualifications :
Scientific or Technical degree or experience
Familiarity with fluoromaterial chemistry or emerging regulation of PFAS
Product stewardship or sustainability experience
Experience with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
Experience in or demonstrated aptitude for in-house counseling, , communicate complex legal challenges clearly to business leaders, help inform and advise in a practical manner to help resolve business needs
