As a Medical Consultant you will be responsible for providing clients with phone consultations regarding interpretation of laboratory results, diagnostic testing and treatment options.
You will be responsible for consultation with the clients regarding interpretation of laboratory data and maintaining client satisfaction by responding to client inquiries of testing procedures and results.
A high level of importance is placed on quality, service, and timeliness.
This position reports to the Medical Consulting Supervisor.
In This Role :
Consulting Responsibilities :
You are responsible for phone and email consultations with clients regarding diagnostic testing, laboratory results (both reference laboratory and in house testing), treatment options and management of medical cases.
You are expected to enter all information regarding consultations into the Customer Relationship Management System softwareYou are aware of tests offered by IDEXX (reference labs and In-House diagnostic tests), specimen requirements, and clinical utility of each test and how to interpret results.
You know proper specimen handling techniques of laboratory specimens for laboratory processing and interferences in the samples that may affect the test results.
You must be familiar with the IDEXX VetLab® In-House Analyzers.You are expected to meet turnaround time and caseload requirements.
You are expected to maintain proficiency and continually develop medical knowledge base by self-study, attending scientific meetings, participation in internal continuing education, and maintaining familiarity with current literature.
Other duties as assigned and may include :
You develope and present CE seminars or other presentations to clients or Reference Laboratory staff or other IDEXX staff.
or prepare other marketing, sales or promotional material.You participate in practice visits with the commercial team and other client facing activities dependent on workload and staffing availability.
You interact with Lab manager / Heads of departments (operations) to maintain TAT, etc., and provide medical input.You interacting with other IDEXX scientists to research or develop other IDEXX products or technologies.
You validate medical lab reports.
What you will need to Succeed :
Degree in Veterinary MedicineBoard Certification with the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or board eligible.
Alternatively, a Diploma / Certificate in Small Animal Medicine.Experience in clinical medicine at a veterinary practice or academic institution is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.A service oriented attitudeAbility to organize and prioritize workComputer skills, or ability and desire to learn required skills are necessaryFamiliarity with current topics in clinical veterinary medicineVery good language skills (German and English), further language skill preferred.
