Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization :

The FUTURE Footwear Innovation Team is tasked with generating industry changing Footwear Brand Concepts that provide long-term value to the adidas brand.

The purpose of the role is to creatively orchestrate Footwear concepts using a collaborative approach and a goal oriented mindset successfully generating Footwear Concepts and Platforms that build Brand value

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage innovation concepts from initial conception through to delivery to the adidas brand
  • Collaborate with, and coordinate, cross-functional FUTURE project teams of designers, sports scientists, engineers, manufacturing technologists and sourcing to ensure consistency of purpose based on consumer insights for FUTURE / Brand concept work
  • Help formulate innovation opportunity spaces by connecting insight from sports culture, macro trend foresight, athlete insight and emerging technology
  • To be attentive to, and focus, the Footwear Innovation Team’s resources and deliverables according to Brand and FUTURE strategy.
  • To help translate research and consumer insights from initial ideas into credible solutions, realizing tangible functional footwear concepts with a projection for scaling and horizontal implementation
  • Collaborate with downstream business and operational stakeholders to integrate concepts into the brand
  • To nurture the culture of the FUTURE Team by being an example of positive attitude, setting an exemplary standard of engagement and passion, and demonstrating a strong innovation mindset.

  • External Suppliers, Consultants and Partners
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels within the organization by building relationships with colleagues, partners and customers.
  • The ability to seek out and gain genuine and relevant consumer insights.
  • The ability to interpret Consumer Insights and translate them into emotionally connected 10X Footwear Brand Platform opportunities.
  • Creative, technical problem-solving mindset.
  • Systematic, organized approach to project planning, documentation and organization.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priority projects proactively and independently.
  • Identify and partner with industry-leading organizations to extend the capability of the team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external resources to drive successful outcomes for innovation projects, platform and initiatives.
  • The ability to confidently present information in an inspiring and influential manner to large groups of diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
  • Sporting goods industry expertise and consumer trend knowledge (plus)
  • Some functional / technical expertise in footwear product.
  • Demonstrate traits of self-reliance, pro-activity, ownership and urgency.
  • Travel as needed with team members and colleagues to the USA as well as travel to solve design and development problems at factories and Asia development centres
  • Fluent in English (German is a plus)
  • Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in an Engineering, Sport Performance, Product Development or a relevant discipline.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in innovative Product / Footwear / Advanced Product / Apparel
  • Proficient Computer skills on Mac or PC.
