Position Purpose

As Continuous Improvement Engineer / Program Manager you will ensure the Bretten facility meets KPI targets by leading, promoting and instilling a passion for continuous improvement in our daily operation.

You will collaborate with colleagues to set direction, prioritise and implement improvement activities. You will help develop local capabilities in applying continuous improvement tools and methods as well as provide coaching support to drive CI initiatives.

Always ensuring improvements are sustainable. Critically, you will oversee CI projects, taking responsibility for scoping, project assignment, resource planning, progress tracking and delivery.

Active participation with global CI Functional Council to leverage best in class solutions. Provide Succession planning options for multiple internal positions across the whole site.

Responsibilities :

  • Drive a Health & Safety culture
  • Be responsible for all aspects of program management; accountable for project delivery to agreed cost and time parameters.
  • Report to the Operations Director and senior management team throughout the lifecycle of the project, recommending strategies
  • Provide oversight throughout the lifecycle of the project, ensuring the project(s) are completed on time and delivers to the financial constraints
  • Exercise judgment and program management skills to balance priorities and communicate to teams to meet and exceed project deadlines and commitments;
  • keep internal and external stakeholders informed of projects and progress

  • Demonstrate leadership and teamwork through active participation of on-site coordination of deliverables in time-sensitive situations in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide Lean tools training, coaching, and project leadership in order to achieve improvements in all areas of the business, both production and back office projects.
  • Participate in cross-functional team efforts to make improvements to products and processes to deliver consistent, annual improvements in performance.
  • Drive standard work and structure into performance indicators from the shop floor through senior management to identify, prioritize and validate the improvement actions and results.
  • Communicate plans and progress to senior management on a regular basis.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to prioritize and deliver projects on time.
  • Streamline processes to improve the customer experience , enable profitable growth and become more efficient.
  • Serve as a change agent promoting the use of Lean tools, KPI’s and incorporation of the standard API Operating System ( MOS).
  • Create an environment where all employees have increased opportunities to contribute to the success of the business and the security of their future through Continuous Improvement efforts.
  • Skills / Competencies :

  • Demonstrable program management experience preferably in a manufacturing environment both on the shop floor and in back office customer facing areas.
  • Ability to speak, write in English fluently
  • Experience of working with Works Councils
  • Ability to manage progress and delivery against timelines and overall cost benefits
  • Proven ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships and effective channels of communication in a pressurised environment.
  • Proven experience in ERP systems
  • Ability to grow internally as least 1 level over the next 3-5 years
  • Experience of organizational design projects.
  • Demonstrated strong influencing skills.
  • Education / Experience :

  • Relevant Engineering qualification to Degree level (Required)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in change management / project management in engineering-based environment (Required) with previous project experience in back office customer facing change management projects (preferred).
  • Understanding of complex low volume engineered to order systems (required) with heat exchange technology (Preferred)
  • Proven experience in low volume / engineered to order business model (Preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years change management improvement experience in manufacturing using formal lean, strategy process driven deployment, and PMP tools. (Required)
  • Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt (Preferred)
