Title : Medical Standards Management Element Technician (MSME)

The candidate shall serve as MSME technician to provide comprehensive Separation History & Physical Evaluations (SHPEs) to service members including Reserve and Guard Component service members, who are scheduled to be separated from active duty after serving for 180 days or more.
Ensure compliance of the conduct of all clinical-service portions of the SHPE program, to include face-to-face interviews and documentation, in accordance with DoD and AF instructions.
Monitor and record age appropriate physiological measurements.
Provide individualized patient teaching on appropriate topics. These include, but are not limited to : separation protocol, Veterans Administration guidelines, E-Benefits, Veterans Benefits Administration, Department of Veterans Administration Mobile Service Offices, and the Veterans Health Administration.
Prepare and position patients for diagnostic testing, examinations, treatments, and clinical procedures.
Perform appropriate documentation of medical examinations, treatment, diagnostic, and clinical procedures.
Recognize and respond to emergencies and perform basic life support measures.
Perform appropriate portions of physical examinations including age appropriate physical measurements.
Adhere to infection control procedures including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), disposal of waste, and aseptic technique.
Perform medical records reviews and apply appropriate protocols and guidelines to determine medical needs.
Perform medical record reviews for security clearances, medical clearances for Reserve / Guard duty, special duty, Initial Flying Classes (IFC), Ground Base Controller (GBC), Commissioning (COMM), retraining, overseas assignments, and stateside assignments with Personnel Processing Code.
Plan, organize, and implement medical standards activities for the SGP.
Provide medical standards guidance policy interpretation and application to health care professionals and medical support staffs within the medical treatment facilities and to personnel throughout the installation.
To complete periodic health assessments.
Qualifications and Skills
Must have successfully completed an Associate's degree in Nursing, Medical Assisting, Healthcare Administration, or in a medically related field from an accredited national, state or military equivalent school.
Have knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures to perform medical documentation of moderate difficulty and experience in assessing histories of pediatric, adolescent, adults, obstetrics, and geriatric patients, as appropriate.
Have knowledge of a wide range of medical disorders / conditions and disease processes across the lifespan, as appropriate.
Have knowledge of preventive health schedules, procedures, processes and education methods.
Have knowledge of disease management and population health principles.
Have knowledge of medical terminology.
Have knowledge of a variety of medical standards used in patient treatment. Knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient conditions including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and recommended follow up care.
Have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.
Shall maintain competency in Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Have at least six (6) months of experience within the last 36 months in a flight or occupational medicine clinic setting.
