JOB SUMMARY :
This position works with other members of our Network Engineering Team to ensure the network remains in compliance with best practices, meets internal design criteria and comply with Internal Information Security and Internal Audit specified guidelines.
Under general supervision, this position will support, maintain, and configure a Global communications infrastructure.
This position would also be responsible for coordinating and performing telecommunications add / moves / changes in both a PBX and VoIP environment.
This includes both local and remote changes, PBX programming, VoIP programming (Cisco), SIP Trunking.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Manage, design and help implement LAN / WAN architecture
Produce service levels consistent with current business needs and future requirements
Comprehensive knowledge of LAN, WAN, VOIP, and Network Security design is essential.
Installs, configures, monitors and maintains network firewalls, making modifications to existing rule bases according to established policies.
Provides increased levels of performance utilizing advanced features such as QOS, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, HSRP, GLBP, etc.
Schedules and performs installations and upgrades in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Extensive experience in a network support role, including the use of monitoring, data capture, and analysis tools to solve complex problems.
Monitor and control network performance in the areas of response, throughput and availability
Research / assess available network technologies in relation to the enterprise’s current and future needs
Assist business and / or senior IT management in evaluations of new software and hardware required to meet a defined business need, or to make a process more effective
Identify opportunities and recommend solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness
Plan maintenance and release upgrades on a timely basis
Work with Network Architect to develop / enhance procedures for WAN / LAN administration (e.g. security, reliability)
Recommend / select specific products as necessary, participating / leading in tool and vendor evaluations
Must be available to participate in group's on-call rotation.
Takes a lead role in the management of all phases of multiple, large scope, complex advanced voice and SIP enabled communication networks, projects, planning, design, procurement, implementation, and documentation.
Conduct MAC (moves, adds and changes) as requested
Create site documentation so the on-site personnel can assist with local phones on the desks.
This employee will be responsible for supervising contractors and vendors during the installation and repair of systems, either locally or remotely.
Provides training and technical expertise on usage of phone equipment and the voice mail system
Creates on-site documentation for local Desktop members to be able to better support devices at their locations.
Flexible to work on holidays if unavoidable work situation(s) arises and some travel may be required.
This position will be supporting our plants located globally. Travel to these plants may be required. Qualifications
5 - 7 years of related experience managing large enterprise infrastructure / network environments, performing hardware and software network engineering, designing and implementing LANs, WANs and VPNs
Extensive experience working in large-scale data center / LAN environment.
Working and technical knowledge of PBX and VoIP systems.
Broad experience in the communications industry analyzing and assessing technology to meet a broad and diverse set of customers’ communication needs, including experience in the deployment of communications services to a diverse constituency within a multi-vendor environment.
Familiar with the Centrex switching services and features, multiple vendors end-user equipment including but not limited to key systems, electronic business equipment, Automatic Call Distributors (ACDs), Universal Call Distributors (UCDs), Integrated Voice Response (IVR) systems, Voice Mail, data networking and emerging technologies. Data LAN / WAN
A thorough knowledge of LAN and WAN architectures and routing protocols, and a thorough working knowledge of Internet protocols and services (TCP / IP, WWW, FTP, TELNET, SSH, SNMP, etc.)
In-depth knowledge and extensive hands-on experience with a full range of layer 1-7 technologies and protocols (advanced layer2;
redundancy protocols, advanced OSPF, BGP, and other routing protocols, advanced layer4-7 load-balancing, security, content management, and other technologies).
Experience with planning, implementation and administration of network devices such as, routers, switches, VPN concentrators, and firewalls preferably Cisco based.
Excellent ability to create detailed physical and logical network diagrams and design documents. Advanced knowledge of Visio.
An understanding of IP Quality of Service technologies and implementation including Priority and Class-Based Weighted Fair Queueing, IPPrec, DiffServ
Ability to predict and manage the performance and capacity of LAN / WAN environment
Experience in effectively communicating with a broad base of end users and multiple management layers
Ability to effectively identify and apply rapidly changing technology to business needs
Good judgment and analytical skills; strong follow-up and organizational skills
Ability to conduct and prepare feasibility studies; develop project estimates for cost, time and resources; complete cost / benefit analysis
Experience implementing required security and LAN configurations to establish secure DMZ environments
Strong project management skills and experience managing remote locations
