Position Description

Valiant is seeking a skilled Exercise Planner to support the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa (MARFOREUR / AF) G-3 as a full-time exercise planner and will be the primary action officer for one or more assigned exercises, and assist the assigned exercise leads on others.

The applicant will report to the Valiant Integrated Services site manager for company-related business, and to one or more uniformed military officers and government civilians for mission-related assignments and tasking.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Plan and coordinate USMC participation in assigned joint and service (Title 10) exercises
  • Ensure exercise purpose, exercise objectives, training audience, and training objectives support the MARFOREUR / AF Campaign Plan and Command Training Plan
  • Coordinate across the MARFOREUR / AF staff to gain appropriate level of staff oversight and participation in exercise planning and execution
  • Determine exercise funding requirements and sources, and manage exercise budget
  • Ensure assigned exercise and events are coordinated with all stakeholders to include respective combatant command headquarters, other service component and sub-unified command headquarters, exercise participants, the host-nation and other allied armed forces participants, the interagency, and respective U.S. Embassy personnel
  • Coordinate and source exercise participants in the Joint Training Information Management System (JTIMS)
  • Draft, coordinate, and provide in-progress reviews (IPRs) and exercise confirmation briefs at an appropriate level consistent with event scope and objectives, up to and including briefs at the combatant commander level
  • Maintain a common operational picture (COP) for assigned exercises by keeping exercise portal pages, concept slides, and JTIMS current, and by providing updates to MARFOREUR / AF's monthly exercise report
  • Coordinate assessment and after-action reviews for assigned exercises
  • Ensure exercise participants understand mission, intent, concept of operations, RSO&I requirements, liberty regulations, etc.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct exercise planning conferences to support the five stages of the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC)
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Possess U.S. Citizenship, a valid U.S. Driver's License, and a valid U.S. tourist passport
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 10 years' directly-related military experience
  • Must have completed Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I
  • Must be able and willing to travel anywhere in the USEUCOM and USAFRICOM Areas of Responsibility
  • Must be able and willing to travel frequently (a home to away ratio of 3 : 1 is typical for our organization, but not guaranteed as either a minimum or maximum)
  • Must be able to work extended hours in support of exercise requirements
  • Must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing, and able to brief senior military leaders
  • Must be able to work effectively with a minimum of supervision, frequently managing several projects concurrently, and delivering required products on time and manifesting a high degree of professionalism
  • Must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint
  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Fluency with Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) concepts
  • A minimum of three years of joint exercise planning experience at the service component- or combatant command-level, and demonstrating fluency with joint operations, the Joint Training System, and the Joint Training Information System (JTIMS)
  • QHSE REQUIREMENTS
