Help us shape the future of the Zalando Android and iOS apps! As a Head of Engineering you will be leading a significant part of Zalando’s Apps engineering organization, comprised of 40+ software engineers.
You will be working with multiple cross-functional teams consisting of Android, iOS, and backend engineers and leads. You will grow, mentor, and coach Engineering Leads in apps development teams.
You will be contributing and shaping the future of the Zalando Android and iOS apps architecture. This is a unique opportunity to use your experience and knowledge in building a scalable development process for delivering coherent user experience to the users of Zalando’s Android and iOS apps.
WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
Build up, lead, manage, inspire, and grow multiple mobile teams.
As a leader of leads, it will be your responsibility to coach your directs to become the best they can be.
Engage with product managers and other leaders across the company to deliver an outstanding product to satisfy the needs of our internal and external customers.
Ensure that development of the complex mobile app is simplified and scales.
Follow the latest developments in mobile app and web engineering and convert these learnings into a future-proof technology strategy
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Strong technical leadership experience, developing, coaching, and mentoring Engineering Leads.
You bring 5-10 years of native mobile coding experience to the table and have a thorough understanding of the mobile development cycle and its limitations.
Good understanding of large-scale applications on a PaaS / SaaS cloud, as well as the developer tooling landscape (including Git, CI / CD, Kubernetes, AWS).
Understanding of software delivery KPIs (release velocity, lead time, ...) and how to influence them to create a high performing technology organization.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to share technical ideas and direction across the organization and a proven ability to influence decision making at all levels and in a variety of contexts.
