    Position Overview

    The Consulting Manager (CM) Leads teams for small to mid-size engagements including management and responsibility of junior team members.

    Being part of an experienced advisory team focused on business development and helping clients to achieve operational excellence in their data-driven transformation journey.

    This is an opportunity for high-performance individuals to join an international team of highly collaborative people who regularly connect and work with industry C-Levels.

    Role & Responsibilities

  • Provides consultation services to clients and suppliers in areas of data-driven business, data strategy, data operating models, analytics technology selection, outsourcing, project management, executive relationships, leadership, negotiation, administration, and marketing.
  • Responsible for project management of small to medium sized engagements or sub-project. Accountable for meeting internal and external deadlines on projects, including management of analyst resources;
  • ensures the quality of any work delegated to others and takes responsibility for reallocating analyst resources as appropriate.

  • Accurately scopes and develops project plan for small projects or components of large engagements with minimal input. Manages several projects of various sizes or components of a large project within budget, scope, and timelines.
  • Develops simple to medium complexity financial models utilizing ISG templates for comparative analysis of vendor proposals, client data and RFP proposals.
  • Participates as a key contributor on engagements or as team member of small to medium size in each business functions.
  • Ensures overall quality of own and other resources’ work Provides corrections and coaching as needed to team members.

  • Participates as part of an advisory team in the delivery of ISG methodology and tools in support of client sourcing initiatives.
  • Assists and leads in the development of initial assessments, project plans, vendor research and selections, financial modeling, RFP creation, contract negotiations and post selection administrative actions.
  • Team development including recruiting, mentoring / coaching junior team members, providing timely feedback on their deliverables, and helping them to understand ISG corporate culture as well as helping them to establish professional networks.
  • Required Skillsets

  • 5+ years of professional experience in a comparable position in the consulting, specialty practice or service industry;
  • related to cognitive computing, analytics, or business intelligence.

  • 5+ years recent experience building top-notch, large-scale business intelligence and analytics systems.
  • Experience focused on the transformation aspects including shared services, operational improvement, and outsourcing / offshoring.
  • Market area requirements include : At least 5 years’ experience in data management, analytics technology, and AI and how to combine these building blocks.
  • Clear understanding and experience of data strategy definitionunderstanding of cloud computing (infrastructure and applications IaaS, PaaS, SaaS market) and the effects on data analyticsExpert knowledge of capabilities of Tier 1 and Tier 2 Service Providers, IaaS providers, and leading SaaS providers in the analytics market.

    Experience in sales or sourcing processes.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience (3+ years) in defining data-driven business processes.
  • Proven knowledge and experience architecting complex analytics ecosystems (2+ years).
  • An understanding of global corporate financial practices and goals - including drivers of process costs, ability to work with Service Providers to ensure effective cost solutions and agreed upon service level agreements.
  • Exhibits solid negotiation skills.

  • Business development and sales experience including prospecting, lead qualification, proposal writing, sales calls and sales support.
  • Practice development experience, including sales and marketing collateral development, IP development and solution development.
  • Accurately scopes and develops project plan for small projects or components of large engagements with minimal input. Manages several projects of various sizes or components of a large project within budget, scope, and timelines.
  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy-to-understand business terms to all levels of management including senior leaders.
  • High level of curiosity


  • Master of Arts or Science degree in a technical or scientific field
  • MBA or other advanced degree(s) desirable
  • ITIL Foundation Qualification desirable
  • Travel

  • 75% - 100% required
  • Computer Literacy

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge with MS-Office suite of software applications and tools, including Microsoft Word, Project, MS-Outlook and particularly strong skills is Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Deep practical knowledge of multiple technologies for data management, analytics, or AI.
