To pro-actively perform, organize and coordinate Gateway activities related to defined areas and responsibility, offering second-to-none service to clients
To pro-actively provide and manage professional Gateway services and support the Gateway department in achieving results as per given targets / KPIs
To be an active member of Gateway team in order to optimize own skills and work processes, safeguarding a future high professional staff level, ready to take on and further develop additional business for the Gateway organization
Assuring accurate and pro-active follow-up and communication, both internal as external
Maintaining a stable / high quality level of operation : i.e.
oensuring that the agreed service levels are delivered to our customers
oensuring that the sub-contractors are operating according the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Meeting the agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
Issue and distribute the required reports and information request flows in full on time
Ensure timely and accurate updating of Damco and customer’s business systems
Ensure that all threats, pitfalls and risks are avoided and if any are envisaged or seen this must be escalated to your direct manager or in absence towards substitute.
Sharing knowledge and best practices with team-members
Ensure maintenance of Internal Operating Procedures (IOP)
Handle non-conformance issues with Gateway Manager or Supervisors Reply to all requests within a 24 hour period or earlier if requested
Monitor data quality and pro-actively ensure that errors are corrected
Prepare and submit all necessary documents and registrations for the client’s cargoes
Close co-operation with internal colleagues to ensure correct / on time customs formalities
Ensure and maintain good and adequate relation with German customs
Assist German customs during physical cargo control on site
Assist German customs during documents control on site
Assist in solving daily operational issues; continuously interacting with the various stakeholders : shipping companies, trucking companies, warehouse and the customers.
All customs related items will be coordinated & managed by you from A to Z.
Ensure documentation flow send in full on time (e.g. B / L)
Project and ad-hoc tasks
The ideal candidate will be a pro-active team-member who has the ability of organizing and managing workload and a strong commercial focus.
A good communicator (2-way communication) with customer focus and with drive for productivity and efficiency as well as for process excellence , ready to increase own forwarding skills.
2 years experience in Customs business
The ability to write, communicate and sell in German language is very necessary.
Same level of fluency in English a distinct advantage, a good level of English, verbally and in writing is minimum requirement.
Key (technical) skills
Professional standard knowledge of Forwarding (all modes of transport)
Detailed knowledge of customs legislation and systems (e.g. DBH, ATLAS)
Good general IT and systems skills
Good knowledge of Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, advanced Excel knowledge
