JOB PURPOSE / ROLE

The key responsibility is to lead the Direct Inward Business & Reporting team and give guidance regarding accounting topics in scope such as settlement with brokers, co-

reinsurer as well as policyholders. This includes all credit control activities like receivables management (reporting on overdue receivables, chasing, write off etc.

The job holder is also responsible for insurance premium taxes, foreign trade reporting and various tax reports.

  • Give comprehensive advise to Accounting Management in all matters related to the Direct Inward Business & Reporting team, and proactively manage relationships with 3rd parties (e.g. brokers).
  • Future Challenges :

  • Actively drive the increasing use of automation, robotics, and other new technologies, support and stabilize the existing offshore set-
  • up; work in virtual teams, adjust to and apply new leadership and project styles like "agile methodologies"; move management focus towards business steering, monitoring and controlling by applying strong analytical skills.

    Lead and Manage Team

  • Develop strategy for own area of responsibility in alignment with company goals. Provide employees with guidance on overall strategic picture and how own functional area's targets are aligned to it.
  • Define clear and challenging targets, monitor progress and address performance issues appropriately and effectively. Drive organizational set up for own area of responsibility including personnel selection.

    Monitor, control and manage offshoring units (SSU / EWB) and outsourcing partners (Capgemini, WTS)

  • Coach and develop employees in a continuously changing environment. Empower employees to execute tasks independently. Foster behavior of team members as desired according to AGCS standards (e.
  • g. behavioral goals, etc...) and live up to the matrix organization.

    Governance and quality assurance

  • Document application of policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Archive records to satisfy audit and statutory requirements.
  • Draft standards to improve quality as well as active contribution in improving and implementing global operation cycles, processes and workflows as well as the implementation of global policies and procedures.
  • Reporting and Closing

  • Ensure that all IFRS, GAAP and Statutory closing and reporting tasks (e.g. annual report, reporting to regulatory authorities, NAIC reporting, other internal / external reporting requirements) related to own area of responsibility are accurate and timely on a global basis.
  • Complete assigned postings, Journal Entries and Account reconciliations on a periodic basis. Reconcile and settle intercompany transactions within the affiliated company group.
  • Coordination, transfer and reconciliation of data from interfaces of front-end systems.
  • Take care of monthly legal entity close submission activities, including posting of accruals, deferred acquisition expenses and other accounting transactions.
  • Manage local relationship with 3rd parties (auditors, biz units, tax authorities, public authorities, etc.)

    IPT / VAT declaration and payment

  • Ensure that IPT / VAT and comparable tax requirements are fulfilled accurately and timely.
  • KEY REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

    Required experience

  • Proven managerial / leadership experience encompassing the development of (small) teams within a complex global / matrix environment.
  • Experience of leading and driving change in various business scenarios, including, e.g., restructuring, integration and mature growth markets.
  • Prior experience in insurance accounting in particular within area of responsibility.
  • Required education

  • Excellent tertiary qualification (ideally Master), preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting or qualified by experience in related discipline.
  • Technical skills

  • Legal and Regulatory Framework : Comprehensive knowledge of local GAAP, IAS / IFRS, Regulatory, Tax and other relevant requirements (such as Allianz Accounting policies) wrt reporting, compliance and declaration.
  • Understanding and knowledge of tax regulations and tax reporting.
  • Solid understanding of the relevant IT systems and technical workflows. IT and office application skills to effectively analyze data.
  • Ability to handle complex processes (closing, reporting, finance operations) including understanding of data flows.
  • General skills

  • Problem Solving : Ability to identify and initiate appropriate actions to remediate issues that can be abstract / ambiguous and follow through on their remediation.
  • Project Management : Ability to manage projects (milestone and task planning, managing resources, controlling, monitoring, reporting, moderating) and to develop solutions while considering complex stakeholder structures and requirements.
  • Analytical Thinking and Numeracy : Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex (e.g. ambiguous, from various sources) data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations.
  • General Management Skills : Encompassing but not limited to leading and developing people, establishing and setting priorities, negotiation skills and conflict management.
  • Languages : English Fluent (able to negotiate); German Fluent (able to negotiate).
